Married within just months of meeting her husband Jay Rutland - a man whom she says reminds her of her father Bernie Ecclestone - the Formula 1 heiress is now thrilled to be expecting her first child.
And speaking about about becoming a mom, the stunning brunette, 29, who is three months pregnant, told MailOnline today: ‘This has been the best year ever.’
Curled up in a bathrobe at a five-star Manhattan hotel at she prepares to launch her luxury haircare range Show Beauty at Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Tamara says she hopes to have a little girl – and dreams of her child becoming close to her younger sister Petra’s baby daughter Lavinia.
‘I want them to be as close as me and my sister. And I would just love to have a little girl who would be super close to Lavinia, she says.
‘There’s only going to be a year between my baby and Lavinia so that would be amazing. Lavinia is the cutest little pooch in the world. I’m definitely going to find out the sex! I need to know, I need to plan.

And despite her huge fortune, Tamara adds: ‘I want to be very hands on like my sister with Lavinia, I’m in a new phase of my life and I’m oddly excited about waking up and feeding and changing and all that bonding stuff – I wouldn’t want anyone else to do it. That’s what I signed up for now, so I’m ready.’
Still looking svelte, Tamara laughs: ‘I have a tiny pouch and it looks like I’ve eaten too much bread.’

Tamara was in New York at the time and flew back to his side. And speaking for the first time since the attack, she said: ‘He’s doing really well, one person was arrested and is waiting trial in prison where he deserves to be.
‘I was here at the time and I couldn’t wait to get home – it was awful seeing him like that.
‘But we found out I was pregnant the next day so that was something very happy after something so negative.’

Tamara only met Jay, 32, in January following a distressing year in which she split with her boyfriend Omar Khyami after discovering he had cheated on her and was filmed on a sex tape.
The couple are still caught up in a messy court battle and Tamara admits: ‘I had a really s**t year last year.
‘We’re still embroiled in a legal case and I’ll have to see him in court later this year. But that one decision to date him has led me to Jay, so I don’t have any bad feelings towards him.’
The newlyweds met through a matchmaking mutual friend and Tamara revealed: ‘She said ‘I have this friend who would like to meet you, I think you’ll really get on and I was like ‘no, not interested!’ and for a while I kept saying ‘no, no , no,’ but I eventually agreed.
‘I was very much thinking that nothing would come of it, I was going to be single, but we had drinks and dinner and we’ve been inseparable every since. When you least expect it, the best things happen.’
The couple were engaged just a month after meeting and were wed in a lavish $11million ceremony, with Sir Elton John on hand to serenade them - and Calvin Harris to DJ.
Tamara, who is happily over her ‘whole day’ sickness now, believes she got pregnant just after her honeymoon, adding: ‘I was shocked that it happened so quickly – not that it happened because it was what we wanted.
‘Like everything about our relationship it’s been very quick, it’s been amazing.'
Tamara is open about her husband’s past. MailOnline revealed how Jay was caught up in a sting by a Sunday newspaper in April 2002, where he sold cocaine to an undercover reporter at an Essex pub.
He was then sacked from his job at Deutsche Bank following the report – and there was more trouble for the Essex-born financier when he was last year banned from working in the City for trading without ‘honesty and integrity’.
Tamara said: ‘People change so much, if I look back at the person I was 10 years ago I was a completely different person to the person I am now and I’ve made mistakes.
‘These things are in Jay’s past and it is unfair that it’s being rehashed only because he’s with me. If he wasn’t, he’d be allowed to forget about his past.’
